The Sri Lankan surf retreat with Swell Women was filled with culture, color, see-through waves that make for epic surfing, and above all the most beautiful accommodations, like Ani Villas.

The film is about a surf retreat I experienced in the southern tip of Sri Lanka near Dickwella. We spent a week staying at the Luxury Resort Ani Villas. Every morning we got up to surf at 6 am for two hours, then retreated back to the villa to relax in the pool, sip on fresh cocktails but the infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and eat the most incredible meals too! And Villas really ups the game on experiential dining. One of our dinners was IN the pool and another memorable meal was a bbq down on the beach. Waves crashing ashore as we were literally inches from the sea sweeping across our feet. Pure bliss.

The Swell Women motto is just that. FIND YOUR BLISS. It’s hard not to in settings like this. You get the best of all worlds all infused with local culture. One of my favorite mornings was taking the Tuk Tuk out into the local Sri Lankan Village for a ride. We stopped by the morning markets, watching children make their way up the hill to school, photographed the most colorful peacocks scattered about town, and also got to watch the local men in the fields harvesting rice. We bought fresh coconuts to cool off in the hot afternoon sun before heading back to the villa.

I’d love to go back again soon and spend more time exploring the rest of the island. After all, there is always more adventure to find! I had a lot of fun testing out my new DJI Mavic Pro drone. Let me know what you think! Would you go on this surf retreat?
